PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode for a battery using a hydrogen storage alloy, which is suitable for a sealed type battery having a high initial characteristic, high capacity and a long life, and to provide hydrogen storage alloy powder used for it. SOLUTION: This hydrogen storage alloy powder is a hydrogen storage alloy expressed by AB5 (A is exothermic type metal and B is endothermic type metal), and is a hyrogen storage alloy powder prepared by treating with an acid solution a hydrogen storage alloy in which A comprises a mixture of rare earth elements containing at least 20-50 wt.% of Ce, 20-50 wt.% of La, and Y (yttrium) except Ce and La, and by treating it with phosphoric acid thereafter. The alloy powder is used in this electrode. |
