PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information reproducing device that normally maintains a reproduction sequence even in the case of reproducing an image at a variable speed. SOLUTION: The information reproducing device such as a digital VTR uses a jog dial 10 or the like to detect a recoding medium running request amount and generates a field switching signal C that changes only at a point of time when a field in each frame is to be changed and unchanges at a point of time when a frame is switched based on the amount. Information of each field is selected and outputted based on the signal C. Thus, only a frame switching signal is changed at a point of time when a frame is switched but the field switching signal is unchanged. Thus, loss of sequencing performance of an image output is prevented at the frame switching point of time.
