<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide useful information to a driver all the times by setting a distance threshold based on clearance information in the lateral direction of a vehicle. SOLUTION: A distance threshold Rth being the reference of deciding whether or not other vehicles exist in a dead angle area ED is changed in accordance with clearance Xc in order to detect following vehicles having a dead angle approaching rate being equal to or more than a fixed level which is hard for a driver to visually recognize at an early stage. As for a following vehicle C11 traveling at a position having relatively small clearance Xc1, because decision is made according to whether or not the vehicle C11 exists in the area ED with a small distance threshold Rth1 as reference, it is possible to decide that it exists in the area ED when the dead angle approaching rate becomes equal to or more than a fixed value. As for a following vehicle C12 traveling at a position having relatively large clearance Xc2, since whether or not the vehicle C12 exists in the area ED is judged with a relatively large threshold Rth2 as reference, possible to judge the approaching to the area ED at a relatively early stage.</p> |
