PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image scanning device that can use an image sensor which has a relatively short optical path and is manufactured at a relatively low cost. SOLUTION: An ADC(analog-to-digital converter) 52 receives electric signals generated by optical sensors 32A to 32E and generates digital signals representing images in the visual fields of the optical sensors 32A to 32E. A computer receives the digital signals generated by the ADC and stores digital representation corresponding to the image data in a memory device. The computer reads the image data out of the memory device and determines the quantities of overlapping of the images obtained by adjacent optical sensors 32A to 32E by using a 1st and a 2nd subarray of the image data. The computer determines areas of overlapping of images by performing a correlating process for the subarrays and then generates the representation of the source image by using the determination result. |
