PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an initial picture from being destroyed by dividing a digital data stream by a randomly accessible minimum reproduction unit to be a reference, storing them in a recording medium, reading them from a transfer stream packet where random access display information is present and decoding them at the time of reproduction. SOLUTION: The control part 140 of a set top box 100 sends a transfer stream(TS) tuned by a tuning processing part 110 by user input through communication interfaces 130 and 210 to a streamer 200. The control part 250 detects the random access display information of a TS packet header, divides it into TS recording unit bodies and records them in the recording medium 230 as 20 pieces of assemblies. At the time, the control part 250 records a cumulative relative position from the initial position of the TS recording assembly as management information and the management information is recorded in a memory 260. Thus, the destruction of the initial picture at the time of reproduction by track search or time search is prevented.
