发明名称 IGNITION PLUG IMPROVED IN FLAME PROPAGATION
摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make combustion uniform in ignition and improve fuel consumption by providing an opening in a root part of a bridge electrode of a plug and causing an ignition flame at the electrode part to pass through the opening so as to allow the flame to quickly propagate also to an air-fuel mixture on the back side of the bridge electrode. SOLUTION: An opening 3 is provided in a root part of a bridge electrode 2 of an ignition plug 1. This arrangement causes an ignition flame to spread by a spark generated between a center electrode 4 and the bridge electrode 2 to pass through the opening 3 in the root part of the bridge electrode 2 to the back side and the flame to propagate also to an air-fuel mixture on the back side of the bridge electrode 2, thereby making the combustion uniform at the time of ignition. Inspection of the ignition plug 1 after its use shows that the back surface of the bridge electrode 2 is burnt brown like the front surface and that the flame is propagated satisfactorily. In a test with a bench test device, it has been found that both the output and the exhaust gas are improved and that the amount of fuel consumed is decreased several percents.
