PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the durability of a sprayed deposit for a sink roll for hot dipping and a support roll both of which perform an important function in the manufacturing process of a hot-dip galvanized steel sheet and also to prevent deterioration in the quality of a plated steel sheet due to deterioration in the surface characteristics of the sprayed deposit. SOLUTION: A cermet sprayed deposit consisting of (metal carbide)-(metal boride)-metal, capable of forming a high-concentration Al-Zn film for inhibiting the corrosive action of molten Zn on its surface by contact with Al-containing molten Zn, is applied to the surface of a roll made of steel. Subsequently, the roll is previously immersed in a high-concentration Al-Zn bath or an Al or Al-Zn alloy sprayed deposit is formed on the surface of the cermet sprayed deposit and then the roll is used in an Al-Zn bath of 0.05-10 wt.% Al content, by which a high-concentration Al-Zn film can be formed on the surface of the sprayed deposit in an early stage.
