PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the connection durability of an optical fiber and light transmission efficiency by mounting a metallic sleeve to the optical fiber by plural caulking grooves extending in an axial direction. SOLUTION: The optical fiber 1 made of a synthetic resin material consists of a core 2 of a high refractive index having a solid form and a clad 3 of a refractive index lower than the refractive index of the core 2 covering the circumference of the core 2 by circumscribing the same. A connection fitting 4 for such optical fiber 1 fits a metallic sleeve 5 to the end portion of the optical fiber 1 and is formed with the caulking grooves 6 extending rectilinearly in the axial direction in the central portions in the longitudinal direction thereof at the plural points apart equal intervals preferably in the circumferential direction of the metallic sleeve 5. The fitting is constituted by fixing such metallic sleeve 5 to the optical fiber 1. In such a case, the mounting strength of the connection fitting 4 to the optical fiber 1 is enhanced as desired by selecting the number of pieces, width, depth, length, etc., of the caulking grooves 6, by which the decrease in the cross-sectional area of the optical fiber 1 is suppressed.
