MONOCLONAL ANTIBODY SUPPRESSING COMPLEMENT-DEPENDENT CYTOTOXICITY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a monoclonal antibody having action suppressing complement-dependent cytotoxicity and useful as a preventive or treating agent for complement-dependent cytotoxicity by specifically binding to dipeptidylpeptidase IV. SOLUTION: This monoclonal antibody having action suppressing complement- dependent cytotoxicity is obtained by specifically binding to a dipeptidylpeptidase IV (hereinafter referred to as DPP IV). This monoclonal antibody is preferably a monoclonal antibody F16 using rat glomerulus as an antigen and is preferably produced from e.g. F-16 hybridoma (FERM P-17016). The monoclonal antibody is capable of expecting use as a preventive or a therapeutic agent for complement-dependent cytotoxicity. The use of DPP IV binding to the monoclonal antibody enables screening of a compound having complement activity-suppressing action.
