PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify aligning operation and to shorten the operation time, and to evade the breakage of a measuring system due to misoperation at the time of measurement by monitoring the quantity of the position shift of a large- diameter pipe in real time. SOLUTION: The alignment device 10 comprises a position detecting mechanism 11, a monitor part 12, and a moving mechanism 13. The position detecting mechanisms 11 comprises two laser light sources 21 and 22 which irradiate an end surface of the large-diameter pipe 1 with vertical and vertical reference line lights for positioning and four CCD cameras 31 to 34 which photograph respective images of two vertical places and two horizontal places on the end surface of the large-diameter pipe 1. The monitor part 12 comprises two vertical and horizontal image adders 41 and 42 which put together the images of the CCD cameras 31 to 34 and two television monitors 51 and 52 for vertical display and horizontal display which display their addition images.
