PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a level detection device for a sand layer level deposited in a deep well which can be easily installed at a low cost and is capable of accurately finding the situation of a sand layer deposited at the bottom of a deep well and of contributing to maintenance timing planning for deep well and pump, lengthening the operating life of a deep well and the optimum operation control for pumps arranged in a plurality of deep wells. SOLUTION: A detection device for deposited sand layer level in deep well for a sand layer surface 22 deposited at the bottom of a deep well 105 is equipped with an ultrasonic sensor 19 which transmits ultrasonic signals to a pump casing 23 installed in a deep well 105 and receives reflected signal of the ultrasonic signals sent out, a measuring device for measuring the level of sand layer deposited in the deep well from the transmitting timing of the ultrasonic sound signal and receiving timing of the reflected signal, and a power supply unit supplying power to the ultrasonic sensor 19 and the measuring device.
