PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an organopolysiloxane emulsion having improved emulsion stability by using a specified nonionic surfactant as the emulsifier. SOLUTION: This emulsion contains an emulsifier being a nonionic surfactant represented by formula I, satisfying formula II, and having an HLB of 10 or above and an organopolysiloxane. In formula I, R is a 10-18C alkyl or an alkenyl; and n is the number of moles of added ethylene oxide. In formula II, nMAX is the number of moles of added ethylene oxide in the adduct amounting to the highest wt.%; and Yi is the wt.% of the polyoxyethylene alkyl ether with the number of moles of addition of i. It is also possible that the emulsifier is a nonionic surfactant represented by formula III: R1-O-(CH2CH2 O)nH and having an HLB of 10 or above, and this may be used in combination with the above emulsifier. In formula III, R1s are 14-18C alkyl groups at least 60 wt.% of which are 16C alkyl groups; and n is an integer of 10-25.
