PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polybenzoxazole precursor which can give a heat-resistant resin having excellent electrical properties and thermal properties and a low water absorptivity by using a specified bisaminophenol compound and a specified dicarboxylic acid. SOLUTION: This precursor comprises repepting units represented by formula I, and this resin comprises repeating units represented by formula II. In formulae I and II, n is an integer of 2-1,000; Rf1 and Rf2, which are the same or different from each other, are each represented by formula III; Rf3 is H, F, or CmF2m+1; m is an integer of 1-10; l is an integer of 3-8; and X is an at least divalent organic group. The precursor is obtained by the dehydrochlorination condensation of a bisaminophenol of formula IV with a dicarboxylic chloride of formula V. In formula IV, Rf1 and Rf2 are as defined in formula I; and the amino group is ortho to the hydroxyl group. In formula V, X is an at least divalent organic group.
