The disc drive has a central axle fixed in the base of a housing. A rotor is mounted for rotation about the central axle, to receive a recording disc. An annular member is arranged in a zone between the rotor and the central axle, so as to be fixed to the central axle. Core bodies (32) extend radially from the annular member, facing the rotor. A coil is wound around each core body to form a stator (24) and fixed to the base of the housing. Two Independent claims are included for a spindle motor.
