PURPOSE: A method for locking a channel for adults on TV is provided to prevent children watching the channel for adults, by displaying an OSD(On Screen Display) screen for receiving a password in a state of a blue-back screen, if a present program is decided as a program for adults only when processing a broadcasting signal on TV, and by continuously watching the broadcasting signal received to a present channel when an inputted password is the same with a preset password by a viewer. CONSTITUTION: A method for locking a channel for adults on TV, capable of receiving VPS/PDC(Video Programming System/Program Delivery Control) data inserted into a predetermined horizontal line section within a vertical blanking eliminating interval of a broadcasting signal, comprises the steps of: reading the VPS/PDC data of the broadcasting signal received to a presently tuned channel, when TV power is on or channels are converted in an up/down form; deciding whether a broadcasting code for adults exists among the VPS/PDC data; muting an outputted audio sound when the broadcasting code for adults is detected, processing a monitor screen as a blue-back screen by using an OSD(On Screen Display) function, and displaying a predetermined OSD character screen for receiving a password; releasing the blue-back screen and the OSD character screen when the inputted password is the same with a preset password, and outputting the broadcasting signal received to the present channel; waiting for re-inputting a password as maintaining the sound muting and the blue-back screen, when the inputted password is not the same. |
