<p>The invention relates to a patient data file management system comprising a notably centralized electronic archive. The management system serves to create, store, process and exchange in a computer-compatible manner digital patient data files containing data relating to examination findings and the patient's medical history, including image-based and graphic data such as X-ray images, computer tomographs, magnetic resonance images, etc. The archive contains at least information showing which patient data are stored in which sub-archives. patient-controlled exchange of patient data files, which exchange is protected by an access code, is effected notably between patients, hospitals and doctors' offices by means of a communications network. The patient data can be retrieved by a patient via a central computer which also gives the patient access to his files.</p> |
