INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE HAVING REACTOR FOR REDUCING NOX CONTAINED IN EXHAUST GAS AND METHOD OF REDUCING NOX

PURPOSE: A countermeasure of the design of an internal combustion engine is provided to satisfy the environmental conditions of the amount of NOx in the exhaust gas. CONSTITUTION: An internal combustion engine including catalyst material received in a housing(12) has a reactor for reducing the amount of NOx in the exhaust gas of a low speed 2-stroke cross-head engine. The reactor has a maximum capacity able to purify only a portion of the flow amount of the exhaust gas of an engine MCR and reduces the amount of NOx of the exhaust gas of the engine by purifying only a portion of the exhaust gas before discharging the exhaust gas out to external air. An inlet tube(13) of the housing of the reactor is connected to an independent engine exhaust gas collector(5) and includes a pump member(14) such as a blower. And the inlet tube has at least one of nozzles(16) on the upper current of the pump member to supply a reducing agent to the exhaust gas.
