A method, and a drug, dietary product, dietary supplement or food supplement are provided for the primary and secondary treatment of stenotic arteries, such as coronary heart disease, as well as prevention of restenosis after percutaneous transluminal angioplasty, laser angioplasty or rotablator atherectomy of stenotic arteries, such as coronary heart disease. The method comprises administering to humans or animals the drug, dietary product, dietary supplement or food supplement which contains an effective amount of genistein.
