PURPOSE: A method for supplying an electronic newspaper for a digital TV system is provided to reduce a transmitting amount of data, by supplying electronic newspaper information of a specific field which is required. CONSTITUTION: A transmitting side multiplexes information on many broadcasting programs, data information including information on electronic newspapers, control information detecting broadcasting programs of a specific channel, and transmits the information to a packet stream in a digital TV system. A receiving side detects the broadcasting programs of the specific channel and the information on the electronic newspapers, by the control information in the digital TV system. A method for supplying an electronic newspaper using the digital TV system comprises the steps of: applying for the information on an electronic newspaper of a specific field to the transmitting side from the receiving side; the transmitting side allocating a subscriber's ID(Identification) to the receiving side, dividing the information into each field, composing the information only which is applied for as the packet stream, and inserting/transmitting ID corresponding to the subscriber's ID on the packet stream; the receiving side detecting the information only according to the subscriber's ID, when the packet stream is transmitted. The transmitting side transmits the information by compressing the information.
