PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer becoming possible to start printing after the execution of a predetermined sequence even when paper jamming is generated at the time of main power supply. SOLUTION: After the initialization of I/F for adjusting a data transmission speed with respect to a printing engine (S201) and the initialization of CR, PF and a pump motor (S202), it is judged whether there is paper (a paper detection sensor is turned ON) and a carriage is present outside a home position (a home sensor is turned OFF) (S203) and, when there is paper and the carriage is present outside the home position (Yes in S203), it is judged that there is the possibility of paper jamming and a jamming paper discharge routine is executed (S204). After this jamming paper discharge routine is executed, CR home seeking (S205), paper discharge processing (S206) and the processing of an ink system(I/S) routine (S207) are executed.
