SHORTENING OF GENERATION OF PLANT AND PLANT BODY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for shortening the generation of a plant, capable of largely shortening a period from the germination of the plant to the harvest of seeds and capable of allowing to stably succeed the character of the plant over many generations by using a specific gene to fasten the flowering season of the plant or stimulate the flowering. SOLUTION: This method for shortening the generation of a plant comprises using a gene having a function for fastening the flowering season of the plant without relating to the lengths of days, thus fastening the flowering season of the plant or stimulating the flowering. The sequence of the gene is ligated to a promoter capable of being expressed in a plant to form a vector, which contains the sequence and is used for the gene recombination of the plant. The vector is added to a plant body through Agrobacterium, etc. The gene is preferably originated from Arabis thaliana L., a plant of the family Brassicaceae. Concretely, the gene includes a gene encoding a protein of the formula. The promoter includes cauliflower mosaic virus 35S promoter. The method is preferably applied to a tree needing many years until flowering.
