PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To oxidize ammonia in ammonia-containing water to make it harmless by bringing the water into contact with oxygen-containing gas in presence of a catalyst under specific heat and pressure conditions, and with hydrogen peroxide in presence of a catalyst. SOLUTION: The ammonia-containing water goes out from a waste water storage tank 1, being adjusted to a desired pH with alkali and is raised the pressure with a pump 2, and also is mixed with oxygen-containing gas being >91% purity. The ammonia-containing waste water incorporating the oxygen- containing gas is raised the temperature as far as a specified temperature with a heat exchanger 3 and a heater 6, and is passed through an oxygen oxidation catalyst reaction tower 7, and with a contact decomposition reaction between the ammonia and the oxygen, the ammonia is removed. Besides, treated water is passed through the heat exchanger 3 and a cooler 8 and is separated gas from the liquid with a gas liquid separator 9, then is added more quantity of hydrogen peroxide than reaction equivalent with respect to residual ammonia, then is fed to a peroxide oxidation catalystic reaction tower 10, and the residual ammonia is nearly perfectly removed with the reaction with the hydrogen peroxide.
