The invention relates to a method and an arrangement 13 for detaching paper rolls, reeled up on paper cores and fixed to one another at their ends, from one another. The rollers are fastened to one another due to the fact that the edges of the narrower webs cut from a wider web overlap in the reeling stage following cutting. According to the invention detachment is performed by an elongate implement 13, which has two succeeding parts 14, 15, rotatable in relation to one another, and an eccentric shaft 16 forming a continuation of the one part 14, which constitutes the axis of rotation. For detaching, the implement 13 is inserted into the cores, following which the shaft 16 is turned so that the pressure with which parts 14, 15 of the implement act on the different rolls distances the rolls sideways from one another, so that the ends of the rolls come apart. The eccentric shaft 16 can be rotated by means of a hydraulic power source. <IMAGE>
