A cup for a milking machine has an elastic tube (6) fitted inside the rigid cup (1) and with an upper collar (3) to fit over the teat (14). The upper part of the elastic tube has one or two thin wall sections (5) to assist with the fitting of the cup and for improving the grip onto the teat. When the cup is fitted to the teat a suction pressure between the tube and the cup causes the thin wall section to extend and ease the fitting. While fitted the cup is held in place by suction in the milking line. The thin sections ensure a good grip during the milking cycles.
