The apparatus includes an electromagnetic write head generating flux changes (F1,F2) which have a distance from each other when a relative movement occurs between the write head and a magnetic memory card. The distance between the flux changes define the binary information. A path sensor generates clock pulses (TI) dependent on the relative movement. A DMA unit (10) accesses consecutive memory cells of a memory (Sp) in which the number of clock pulses is stored which define the distance between the flux changes dependent on the binary information. A count module (16) counts the clock pulses and controls the write head when the number of clock pulses output by the DMA unit is reached for generating the flux change and causes the DMA unit to output the next number of clock pulses.
