<p>This invention provides a convenient, new, one step process for the preparation of 2-(trihaloacetyl)-3-(substituted amino)-2-propenoates and related derivatives thereof by reaction of carbonyl compounds substituted with a trihaloacetyl group with an acetal in the presence of an organic acid. The resulting propenoates are useful as intermediates for the construction of trihalomethyl substituted heterocyclic compounds for use in pharmaceutical and agricultural applications.</p> |
