PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently removing the fat from a solubilized purified bone to prepare gelatin of high quality. SOLUTION: A method for degreasing a collagen-containing material comprises providing a collagen-containing material and subsequently adding a lipase solution at a concentration of not lower than 0.1 ppm to said collagen- containing material over a sufficient period of time to solubilize the fat contained in said collagen-containing material to prepare a degreased collagen- containing material having a fat content of less than 1 wt.%.
