PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mower capable of automatically cutting grass such as turf vegetated on the top surface of a roof. SOLUTION: This mower is obtained by laying a pair of left and right rails 2 for running on a roof, placing a mobile carriage 3 on both the rails 2 for running, and installing a prime mover part, a transmission part interlockingly connected to the prime mover part, a wheel driving mechanism interlockingly connected to the transmission part, a mowing part interlockingly connected to the prime mover part and a controlling part for controlling the respective driving parts in the mobile carriage 3, and is capable of cutting grass such as turf vegetated on the roof with the mowing part while self-advancing and running the mobile carriage 3 on the rails 2 for running. The mobile carriage 3 is equipped with a decelerating position detecting sensor for detecting the decelerating position set near the terminal end of the rails 2 for running and stopping position detecting sensors for detecting the stopping position set at the terminal end of the rails 2 for running, and the respective sensors are connected to the input side of the controlling part. Thereby, the wheel driving mechanism is gradually decelerated through the transmission part based on the results of detection with the decelerating position detecting sensor by the controlling part. The wheel driving mechanism is stopped through the transmission part based on the results of detection with the stopping position detecting sensors by the controlling part.
