PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately confirm the state of a recorded image by selecting a full display mode where an image is displayed by using an entire effective display screen of a monitor, when the recording is in still image recording mode. SOLUTION: Upon application of power, a control section 109 discriminates whether or not a destination mode of the recorder is set to a still image recording mode, depending on an operating state of a switch 115a of an operation section 115. When the destination mode is set to the still image recording mode, the control section 109 controls a display control circuit 111 to set a display mode of a monitor 113 to a full screen display mode, where an image is displayed by using an entirely effective display screen. Then the operation of a trigger switch 115b is awaited to stores a still image by one image screen portion in a memory 105, depending on the operation of the trigger switch 115b and recording of the still image is started. As a result, the state of an image that is displayed can be confirmed accurately at the recording when the recorded still image is transferred to a computer or a printer, where the image is utilized.
