PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiving device which usefulness improved through the use of GPS information and standard radio waves. SOLUTION: After acquiring the latitude and longitude of the present location (step SC1), the distance to a radio wave station is computed (step SC3). On the basis of the computed distance and the retrieved transmission output of the radio wave station, it is judged whether standard waves from the radio wave station can be received or not (step SC4). In the case when the standard radio waves can not be received, a receiving circuit 16 is turned off (step SC5). In the case where the distance enables the reception of the radio waves, the receiving circuit 16 is turned on (step SC10). The frequency of the radio wave station is sequentially read (step SC11), and the read frequency is set in the receiving circuit 16. By this, it is possible for the receiving circuit 16 to start receiving the standard waves from the closest radio wave station and acquire term code included in the standard radio waves (step SC13). |
