PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain correct reception processing of information even when various kinds of monitored devices are intermingled with respect to the monitoring method, the monitoring device and the monitoring system where the monitoring device monitores monitored devices in a network where plurality of the monitored devices such as exchanges are interconnected by a transmission line. SOLUTION: The monitoring device 1 monitors a network where plurality of monitored devices 2-1-2-3 are interconnected by a transmission line 3. An identification information storage part is formed to information sent from one or both of the monitoring device 1 and the monitored devices 2-1-2-3, a format identifier denoting the format is set to the identification information storage part and then the resulting information is transmitted, the information is received corresponding to the format identifier set to the identification information storage part of the received information and the monitoring device 1 conducts display processing based on the format identifier added to state information when receiving the state information of a different kind of the monitored devices so as to correctly display even the state information of the monitored device with a different version.
