The invention relates to the use of intravenous contrast age nts for projection mammography and novel devices for carrying out projection mammography. This novel method is simple and can be c arried out without special inconvenience for the patients. It a) considerably improves sensitivity for demonstrating focal lesions in the mammae and b) provides additional information on the char acter of previously detected lesions.
