PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hedge trimmer especially suitable for works not needing wide shearing widths, such as garden plant-pruning works. SOLUTION: This hedge trimmer is provided with a pair of upper and lower blades 4, 5 wherein cutting edges are longitudinally formed in a comb teeth-like shape, a motor 11, and a mechanism 12 for converting the rotation movement of the output shaft 11a of the motor 11 to the longitudinal reciprocating movement of at least one of the blades 4, 5. Therein, the shearing width of a pair of the blades 4, 5 is set to <=250 mm, and the consumed power of the motor 11 is set to <=100 W.
