PURPOSE: An apparatus and a system is to monitor the state of a master and a slave when data is transmitted therebetween through a PCI(Peripheral Component Interconnect) bus, to control automatically a burst size, thereby enhancing the data transfer efficiency and the data processing capability. CONSTITUTION: A detection part(110) detects a burst size in a configuration register(200), when the data transfer is carried out between a master and a slave through a PCI bus. A control part(120) outputs a burst increment signal and a burst decrement signal by monitoring the state of data transfer and determining whether the detected burst size is increased or decreased. A calculation part(130) inputs the burst size increment or decrement signal and increases or decrease the burst size, outputting them. A statistical processing unit(150) accumulates the burst size so decreased or increased for a fixed time and averages the accumulated burst size, outputting them.
