摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct red-eye by varying a data correction amount with respect to original image data in a red-eye area depending on a place in the red-eye area (e.g. middle or surrounding of the red-eye area) so as to generate a more natural face image. SOLUTION: In a distribution state of a saturation (a) and a lightness (b) of an original image along a line of a red-eye area, the red-eye is corrected by reducing the saturation and the lightness of the original image. A degree of this reduction changes depending on a place in the red-eye area. The reduction rate of saturation (e) and lightness (d) with respect to the original image is expressed in percentage. Then the reduction rate is changed larger toward the center of the red area to obtain a distribution of the saturation (c) and lightness (d) after the correction. Then an arithmetic operation of restoring the color space expressed by the hue of the original image and the saturation and the lightness after the correction to a color space of the original image data is conducted and generation of an image whose red-eye is corrected is made complete. Or stepwise reduction in the saturation (g) and lightness (h) is effective.
