PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely detect a deteriorated condition of a coating member, and to allow detection under a high temperature circumstance. SOLUTION: Electrodes 13, 14 are mounted respectively on a surface of coatings 82, 83 applied on one side surface of a base material 81 which is a specimen, and on the other side surface of the base material 81, and a current varying in its frequency is made to flow between the electrodes 13, 14 by an impedance measuring device 11 to find a measured value of impedance in each frequency. A locus of the measured values is plotted on a complex plane by a processing and display device 12 input with the measured values, generation of oxides in the coating 82 is detected based on a level of the locus, and a thickness reduction state of the coating 82 is detected based on an inclination angle in the vicinity of a zero point of the locus. High temperature-resistant electrodes or the like are used for the electrodes 13, 14 so as to allow detection under a high temperature circumstance.
