PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize flow velocity and ensure a satisfactory measuring accuracy by placing a flow velocity measuring bent surface body like a hollow open at both ends in a measuring pipe and forming one or more cut recesses into the sidewall of the bent surface body from an opening to the middle. SOLUTION: When as shown by white arrows, a gas or other fluid flows into an ultrasonic flow velocity measuring pipe 1, it flows from the left opening of an elliptic shell 7 and a cut recess 9 into the shell 7 flows therein and drains from the left opening and the recess 9 to the outside of the shell 7. The recess 9 is formed specially like a V-shape, and the recess width varies according to the cross sectional area of the shell 7 to adjust the flow rate of the fluid flowing into or out of the shell 7 from the recess 9 according to the cross section of the shell 7. Hence the flow rate of the fluid flowing through the cross section of the shell 7 is constant at any point, thus stabilizing the flow velocity of the fluid flowing in the shell 7.
