PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the cell shape arbitrary, to facilitate the genuine/false judgement, and to improve the decorativeness and security by providing a part where cells in shapes which are meaningful individually like characters, numbers, symbols, etc., are arranged. SOLUTION: The pattern which is constituted by arranging fine cells formed of diffraction gratings on the surface of a substrate and varies in one of the spatial frequency, direction of the diffraction gratings, and arrangement of the cells has a part where the cells in shapes which are meaningful individually like character data (characters, numbers, symbols) are arranged. The figures conceptually show the state wherein original image data are replaced with the cell shape taking the luminance values of respective pixels into consideration by being converted according to an arbitrary rule (f). Even if the original image data are recognized widely by the public and easily obtainable, image manufacture after conversion becomes difficult on condition that the conversion function (f) is not open to the public.
