Shampoo-conditioners based on surfactants including nonionic surfactant, a 10-24 C fatty acid and a compound selected from a group of 11 claimed alcohol and ether compounds including 1-methoxy propanol-(2), diethyleneglycol mono(m)ethylether and benzyl alcohol. Water-based hair washing agents comprising (on total composition) 5-50 wt. % surfactant components in which the proportion of nonionic surfactants is at least 25 wt. % of the total surfactant content; 0.5-10 wt. % of a 10-24 C fatty acid; and 0.5-25 wt. % of at least one compound selected from 1-(m)ethoxypropanol-(2), diethyleneglycol mono(m)ethylether, dipropyleneglycolmono(m)ethylether, benzyl alcohol, benzyloxyethanol, phenylethyl alcohol, phenoxyethanol and/or cinnamic alcohol.
