The dampening device (1) for toilet paper (2) has a liquid container (6) and a dampening roll (7) with underside in contact with the liquid and with the toilet paper rolling off over the top of it. The roll can turn in an open-top outlet aperture of the liquid container, closing it in the manner of a deodorant roller and preventing leakage of liquid.
