The invention relates to a method for producing bactericidal charcoal, especially by using a silver lactate solution which is preferably introduced into the pore systems of the charcoal by ultrasound or vacuum techniques. Said solution is converted to elemental silver at high drying temperatures while non-toxic by-products are produced.
