The protective device consists of a longitudinal carrier (2) from which two concave protective parts (3, 3') project in different directions. The protective pares are offset from each other both longitudinally and circumferentially. Their concave sides face each other. The free space between them in the longitudinal direction of the carrier roughly corresponds to the cross section of the tree being protected.
