PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a starch paste being excellent in freeze stability and storage stability and giving a bonded article with a paste film made proof against deterioration and the discoloration upon exposure to ultraviolet rays by adding a sulfamic acid (salt) to a starch paste obtained by suspending starch in water, gelatinizing it by the addition of an alkali, and neutralizing with a neutralizer. SOLUTION: Starch is suspended in water and then gelatinized by the addition of at least one alkali selected from an aqueous solution of an alkali hydroxide belonging to an alkali (alkaline earth) metal hydroxide such as NaOH, KOH, or Ca(OH)2 and a compound giving an alkaline aqueous solution. Subsequently, a neutralizing agent such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, or acetic acid is added to the mixture to obtain a starch paste. The paste is mixed with, optionally, a preservative, an antimold or other additives. Thus, it is possible to produce a constant-quality starch paste within a short time in a high productivity per batch.
