PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cosmetic for the hair, improved in stickiness, heaviness and dryness, adequate in neatness, smooth to the touch, imparting gloss to the hair, and hence easily used and excellent in feeling when applied, although containing high-molecular-weight silicone oil. SOLUTION: This cosmetic for the hair contains, in addition to high- molecular-weight silicone oil, at least one compound selected from the group consisting of 3-[4-hydroxy-3,5-bis(3-methyl-2-butenyl)phenyl]-2-propenoic acid, benzenepropanoic acid 4-(2-carboxyethenyl)-2-(3-methyl-2-butenyl)phenyl ester and salts thereof.
