The invention relates to a method and a device for the generation of data for the diagnosis of the degree of injury to a patient's skin tissue. According to the invention, the object of finding a novel way of assessing the degree of injury to human skin on the basis of spectrally resolved video records, which allows objective and reproducible evaluation of the skin injury regardless of the skin type and time of the skin injury is achieved in that remitted light from the surface of the skin tissue during illumination with white light is simultaneously split into at least four separate light paths, spectrally defined wavelength ranges for the spectral channels being extracted in stages using successive spectrally selective cut-off filters, after the staged spectral resolution, narrow-band spectral filtering is carried out in each spectral channel before the optoelectronic image conversion, cluster analysis is carried out in a parameter space of the remission values, the centers and radii of the clusters being determined by training with remission values of degrees of injury to known skin tissue patterns and being stored, and allocation of remission values of unknown skin tissue to these trained clusters of degrees of skin injury being carried out, and surfaces with different degrees of skin injury in the region of the recorded skin surface are displayed on the basis of the cluster allocation.
