PURPOSE: A control device for the traction of a vehicle and a control method thereof are provided to safely and efficiently control the traction for preventing wheels from sliding by changing a traction control state according to the state of opposite wheels. CONSTITUTION: A control device for the traction of a vehicle contains speed sensors(11,12,13,14) of a first to a fourth wheel generating electric signals according to the rotating speed of four wheels; a traction controller(2) controlling brake pressure supplied to the brake device of a right or a left wheel for preventing wheels from sliding; a solenoid valve unit(3) changing the passage of hydraulic pressure with control signals from the traction controller; a hydraulic generator(4) transmitting hydraulic pressure depending on the changed passage of hydraulic pressure; and wheel cylinders(51,52) for the right and left wheels, controlling the brake device by changing the state according to the state of hydraulic pressure. Herein, the control device decides that driving wheels are in sliding when the speed of driving wheels is not equalized with the speed of driven wheels.
