A compact individual package for a sanitary napkin having side flaps is disclosed. In one embodiment, the sanitary napkin and wrapper are folded together as a unit about two longitudinal folding lines. In this embodiment, the longitudinally-folded sanitary napkin and wrapper are then folded as a unit about at least three trasnverse fold lines and retained in their folded configuration to form the invdividual package.
