PURPOSE: A memory control method using a defect resist in a DVD(Digital Video Desk)-rewritable playing system is provided to designate physical ID numbers inputted by a DVD-rewritable disk, and to notify the defect resist to a write controller. Therefore, an element of a time delay can be removed. Also, a defect memory can be effectively managed. CONSTITUTION: A write controller receives an address for being played. The write controller reads defect resist. The write controller decides a physical ID number among data read from a disk. The write controller corrects an error of the physical ID number. The write controller decides whether the address is in accord with the physical ID number. If so, the write controller confirms whether a resist bit is 16th. If the address is not in accord with the physical ID number, the write controller decides a physical ID number again. If the resist bit is 16th, the write controller notifies a microcomputer of a reading completion. If the resist bit is not 16th, the write controller confirms whether the corresponding bit is low. If so, the write controller does not record the bit to an error correction memory. If the corresponding bit is not low, the write controller records the bit in the error correction memory.
