PURPOSE: A braking device for a bicycle is provided to relieve inconvenience of maintaining regularly a state that a protrusion operating grip is rotated by enabling a clutch plate to separate from a hub clutch in case that wheels all rotate normally. CONSTITUTION: In a side of a clutch plate, a clutch engaged with a clutch formed at a hub is defined and plural pushing bars pushing the clutch plate are penetrated in a sun gear. At a rear end of the pushing bar, a push arm(6) thrusting the pushing bar by rotational action, connected with a cable(71) controls the rotation of a drum is mounted. A hook(412) controlling rotation of a ratchet claw(411) combined with a ratchet(402), the cable(71) pulling a rod(7) and a lever winding the cable and a tension bar inside a discharge hole of the clutch plate delivering torque of a sun gear to a hub are herein included. At a point where a drum rotating achieves a 1/2 rotation, a protrusion of a spring is stopped by a frame that no more rotation is performed and a cable(403) rotates along the drum as well. The cable is inserted into a tube and winds around the drum, though pulled. In case the hub keeps rotating, sliding occurs between a band brake and a frictional drum and braking is achieved.
