PURPOSE: Provided is a method for manufacturing isocyanates and isocyanate adducts from amide derivatives induced from haloaminotriazines and acid halides, such as oxalyl chloride, phosgene and phosgene analogues. CONSTITUTION: A method for manufacturing an isocyanate comprises the steps of: contacting a haloaminotriazine with an acid halide selected from the group consisting of oxalyl chloride, phosgene and phosgene analogues at a temperature and for a length of time to produce an acid amide; and decomposing the acid amide to give an isocyanate.
